NEW! Teacher-tested Interactive School Program!
In our newest educational offering, students use historical documents, grave markers in nearby Copp’s Hill cemetery, and clues on the Old North Church campus to investigate the unsolved mystery of who hung the lanterns in the Old North steeple on the night of April 18, 1775. The program introduces students to the historical research process and the importance of “sourcing” historical documents to assess their accuracy.

This program meets the Massachusetts frameworks for History and Social Science and English Language Arts.

Grades: 3rd–8th
Program Length:1.5 hours
Cost: $5.00 per student
Group Limit: 25 students or 1 class

Please note: As we are growing this new program at the Old North, Who Hung the Lanterns will be offered on a limited basis during the 2008-09 school year. Contact us early to schedule a trip for your class!

The Old North Foundation has grant funding to cover program and transportation costs for a limited number of groups. Contact the education department at schoolprograms@oldnorth.com to learn more.
