This award is presented to an Old North Foundation educator who exemplifies the highest standards of our education team, based on several factors including interactions with our visitors, ability to handle daily duties AND unexpected situations, teamwork, reliability and dedication, and presentation skills. Linda is our Chief Chocolate Interpreter. While she is a versatile educator who knows all about the Old North campus, she is completely committed to the continued growth and excellence of Captain Jackson’s Historic Chocolate Shop. She is flexible and willing to step in wherever she is needed, and she continues to research chocolate, the Clough family, and Captain Jackson on her own and shares that knowledge with her fellow educators. Together with the Director of Education, Linda also leads our new chocolate outreach programs in Boston metro schools.
Visit Linda at Captain Jackson’s on the weekends this winter!
“Linda sets a wonderful example for other Old North educators and adds a warmth and maturity to her interactions that the public appreciates. Her leadership and dedication are admirable, and Linda is an indispensable member of the education team.” – Old North staff person / colleague of Linda’s
ABOUT LINDA Linda grew up in Somerville, not too far from here. She and her husband met in high school and raised two incredible young men (one of whom is also an educator at Old North!). She’s worked for the Harvard Coop, Duke University, and the University of North Carolina in positions such as textbook buyer and store manager. Once her sons were born, she volunteered in their schools as well as with other religious and historical organizations. 2014 is her second season as an Old North educator, and she was recently named Chief Chocolate Interpreter. Linda is also an avid re-enactor and has extensive knowledge about the colonial period.
