New programming will be coming to Old North’s historic Clough House this spring!

For the past seven years, the Printing Office of Edes & Gill, an independent organization interpreting colonial printing practices, has been a valued part of the Clough House and the Old North Church & Historic Site. The Printing Office of Edes & Gill will be leaving the Old North campus as of March 18, 2018. Everyone at Old North wishes print master Gary Gregory and Edes & Gill all the best. This change will not affect Captain Jackson’s Historic Chocolate Shop, which will remain open to visitors after March 18th.

Looking toward the future, Old North has exciting plans ahead! Captain Jackson’s Historic Chocolate Shop will continue to operate in the Clough House, teaching visitors about colonial chocolate, the triangular trade and the shop’s namesake, Captain Newark Jackson. As always, visitors will see chocolate making demonstrations and have the opportunity to sample colonial drinking chocolate.

In addition to chocolate, Old North is delighted to announce a new exhibition space entitled “Patriots Corner” will be opening May 1, 2018 in the Clough House! Patriots Corner will become a rotating exhibition space that will work to better tell the stories of Old North Church & Historic Site. The space will also be used to involve and serve those in the local Boston community. The first exhibit will revolve around Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, interpreting the famous poem, “Paul Revere’s Ride” for visitors. We look forward to sharing Patriots Corner with you soon!

Be sure to check back on our website for more information on Patriots Corner and exciting pop-up activities this year, including family-friendly activities and colonial characters in the St. Francis Courtyard and regular campus walking tours that introduce visitors to the rich history of the entire campus.
