The Curséd Brick in Old North’s Crypt
Recent visitors to Old North’s crypt may have noticed a single brick on display, respectfully placed on a pillar and ensconced in a transparent case. Back in March, this brick was mailed to us in a box with no return address. The brick was accompanied by a note that was as brief as it was disconcerting:
“My husband took this from the crypt. We have had a string of bad luck and we want to return the brick.”
In two sentences, the Hemingway-esque writer has raised more questions than many authors do with 500 pages. Why did her husband take the brick in the first place? What calamity has befallen this family, and why do they think the stolen brick is to blame? Did returning the brick change their luck?
We may never know the answers to these supernatural queries. However, if you are the person who mailed the brick to us, please reach out with your story. All is forgiven. We just want to know the truth.
Our Education team decided to display the brick in the crypt, along with the note from the spouse of the remorseful thief. We hope the brick is entertaining to our visitors and acts as a warning to all would-be shoplifters: think twice before you take something from our crypt!
